Six Ways to Improve your Page Rank SEO

Follow these suggestions and watch your website’s page rank SEO rise to the top of Google’s SERP results in Halifax and applies to basically anywhere in Canada or the USA.

Google is by far the most popular search engine in the world. It is popular because it seems to rank pages accurately and quickly. The secret to Google’s success is its top secret Pagerank Algorithm. Google developed its page ranking system in an effort to increase the quality of search results and has left all it’s competitors in the dust.

Search engine optimization SEO experts are always looking to find new ways to increase their Google rankings. As we all know, a website is a pretty good thing to have for lots of reasons. But the truth is that if no one knows it exists, then it is pretty much useless.

  1. Publish Relevant Content

Quality content is the number one factor in driving your SERP ( search engine rankings) and there is no better way than quality content. Quality content created specifically for a specific user group will increase website traffic and also improve your website’s authority and relevance in your market/niche.

Identify a keyword phrase for each page. Think about how your reader might search for that specific page (with phrases like “social media expert in Canada” which best applies to social networking and social marketing alike. Then, repeat this keyword phrase several times throughout the page content of your article. When a user searches specifically for social media expert in Canada, and if your site has quality content and proper HTML formatting and contextual anchor text links, the user should be able to find your site in the top ten results on Google.

Don’t forget to use bold, italics, heading tags, and other emphasis tags to highlight keyword phrases, but don’t overdo it.

Never sacrifice good writing for SEO. The best pages are written for the user, not for the search engine.

  2. Update Your Website Content Regularly

You should feel pretty strongly about content. Search engines sure do! Regularly updated content on your website is very important and is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh. Measurable activity is one of the key factors in Google’s algorithm updates. Update your website with quality articles on a regular basis and relevant articles that will keep your users informed and interested.

  3. Metadata

When designing your website, each page contains a space between the <head> tags to insert metadata, or information about the contents of your page. It is very easy to edit the header section of a WordPress site, which most sites nowadays tend to be.

    • Title Metadata

Title metadata is responsible for the page titles displayed at the top of a browser window. It is the most important metadata on your page. For those with a CMS website, our Halifax web design team has developed an automated system for creating the meta title for each webpage.

    • Description Metadata

Description metadata is the textual description that a browser will use in your page search return. Think of it as your site’s window display which is a concise and appealing description of what is contained within the site with the goal of encouraging people to enter, stay, and come back often.

    • Keyword Metadata

Keyword metadata are the search phrases that people type when they want to find your web page. You’ll want to include a variety of phrases. However, don’t get greedy: if your list becomes excessive, the browser may completely ignore the data. As a general rule, try to keep it to about 6-8 phrases with each phrase consisting of 1-4 words. A great example would be “web design company halifax

  4. Have a link-worthy site

Focus on creating relevant links within the text. Instead of having “click here” links, try writing out the name of the destination. “Click here” has no search engine value beyond the attached URL, whereas “web design halifax” is rich with keywords and will improve your search engine rankings as well as the ranking of the page you are linking to.

  5. Use alt tags

Always describe your visual and video media using alt tags, or alternative text descriptions. They allow search engines to locate your page, which is crucial—especially for those who use text-only browsers.

  6. Google + is the foundation for all of Google’s products and services.  As part of Google+ there is the social network component that allows you to build up your social network with other members of a similar community or niche.  If you share content located on your Google+ account then people can indicate they like it by clicking on the Google+ button this will help with ranking of content. So if the people in your Google + network are logged in to google while they are searching your post will come up higher than people outside their network if the post is relevant.
